ACTIVAGE Galicia begins today its pilot phase in the technological showroom of the Televes Corporation

The first pilot test foreseen in the ACTIVAGE Galicia work plan has been carried out in the technological showroom of the Televes Corporation, at the company's central facilities in Santiago de Compostela.

The start of the pilot phase has been carried out using a simulator environment that represents a standard home, in which different tests have been carried out aimed at validating the correct integration of the equipment deployed in the home (sensors, actuators, registers, etc.) against the information and management systems of SERGAS and the Red Cross. In later phases of the project, pilots will be carried out with real users in their usual homes, with the aim of reaching 700 households in Galicia within 2 years, for which work is already being done on the selection of users in the social and socio-sanitary field. , and in the definition of training models.

The purpose of these works is to move towards telecare solutions at home and in the early detection of risks associated with aging and cognitive deterioration, through the analysis of behavioral routines and the follow-up of chronic patients. The results obtained will also serve to build a digital social network with video communication between older people to avoid isolation and loneliness, and a monitoring system for chronic or pre-chronic patients.

ACTIVAGE's vision is to be a global benchmark to demonstrate that standardized, safe and interoperable ecosystems facilitate new business models and effective solutions to promote active and healthy ageing, being a catalyst for the coordinated investment of public and private resources, driving demand of services and the competitiveness of the industry through innovation.

Open technology based on the Internet of things

ACTIVAGE is a great initiative of ID i based on information technologies that aims to develop solutions based on the Internet of Things to deal with the increase in life expectancy, promoting active and healthy ageing. It is backed by the Horizon 2020 Framework Program for Research and Innovation of the European Union, and has a budget of 25,3 million euros and an execution period of 42 months.

In this way, 50 entities from all over Europe are working hand in hand to build an interoperable and open ecosystem for the deployment of technological solutions that will increase the safety of the elderly, favor the maintenance of their independence and their social participation, and reduce the impact negative effects of chronic diseases and cognitive decline. Likewise, the creation of the platform will promote the development of new services and business opportunities in the field of so-called Smart Living in the future.

To achieve the proposed goals, nine development centers (deployment sites) have been set up in Greece, Emilia Romagna (Italy), Isère (France), Woquaz (Germany), Leeds (Great Britain), Finland, the Valencian Community, Madrid and Galicia. In each of the regions, innovative and large-scale pilot tests will be carried out in which, together, some 7.200 users and more than 43.000 Internet of Things devices will participate.

ACTIVAGE Galicia is led by Televés and has the participation of the Spanish Red Cross, the Vodafone Spain Foundation, the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Galician Health Service (Sergas). It also has the collaboration of the Agency for Technological Modernization of Galicia (AMTEGA), as a member of the Advisory Board, and Fundación Tecsos as an advisor on social technologies. Last July, the consortium signed an agreement with the Department of Social Policy of the Xunta de Galicia to collaborate in the definition of user selection criteria and facilitate their participation in the pilot tests.
