Smart Assist

Intelligent, ubiquitous and accessible telecare

Offering effective solutions through technology that facilitate the day-to-day life of people with disabilities, the elderly who require care or people with special needs and their caregivers is the objective of SmartAssist. This collaborative research and development (R&D) project is led by Televés and we participate in it together with two other entities with extensive knowledge and experience: the Vodafone Foundation and the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Smart Assist part of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data analysis (Big Data Analytics) to develop intelligent solutions that allow personalized attention, creating an environment that integrates mobile and home telecare, favoring security and accessibility to the maximum, while respecting and promoting the autonomy and privacy of people.

This is an initiative aligned with developments such as CareLife, the innovative solution for ubiquitous telecare developed by Televés in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross, Fundación Vodafone and Fundación Tecsos, and which has already been presented in important technological forums and in the socio-health sector, both in Spain and abroad.

The project Smart Assist It has a budget close to one million euros and an execution period between September 2016 and December 2018. The main objective of the project is the design and development of an intelligent telecare system that combines and integrates the benefits of different delivery modalities. existing care service (home telecare, mobile telecare and video care) by providing new communication interfaces with users.

The proposed solution will guarantee people with disabilities compliance with the Principles of Universal Accessibility and Design for All, since accessibility for all groups and intuitive and safe access to services will be prioritized, both by the end user and by part of the caregiver

Finally, a fundamental element of the project is the integration of the solution with the platforms of IoT most relevant, such as FIWARE, SOFIA2 or UniversAAL, in order to extend the scope and interoperability of the services offered. The project contemplates the development of a pilot of 25 users, with which its results will be evaluated.

The Smart Assist project is financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, through the call Challenges-Collaboration inside of the State Program for Research, Development and Innovation Oriented to the Challenges of Society and co-financed by the European Union.
