What is an ideathon?
Un open and participatory online event where volunteers and Red Cross workers throughout Spain collaborate to Give answer to challenges and needs identified in the work of the Red Cross with the collectives most vulnerable of our society. This process is carried out following innovative methodologies and focusing on the application of the technology to solve these challenges.
When are you going to do?
This year we will make 2 calls:
Tuesday June 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Wednesday June 23 from 17:00 p.m. to 19:00 p.m..
The two events are independent so if you want to participate you just need to sign up for one of the two. Below are the registration links.
What can I contribute?
We are sure that mucho. And leaning on others and Working as a team, much more.
Where does the idea come from?
Just a year ago we did the first Ideathon, which due to the context in which we were, was very focused on needs detected at the hardest moment of the pandemic. If you want to have more information about how it was last year click here
This year we believe that we must look to the future and work on 4 challenges identified as key for the Red Cross. These challenges are:
- Gender violence: How can we take advantage of ICTs to approach the victims of gender violence girls, adolescents and young people?
- Environment: How can ICTs help us to anticipate the risk that many families have of living in a situation of energy poverty?
- Old people: How can we identify situations of unwanted loneliness in the elderly from a community point of view with the help of ICTs?
- Childhood: How can technology help us to raise and care in the community for children from 0 to 12 years of age?
What do I need to participate?
If you are a Red Cross volunteer or worker and you like technology, we have your desire and your illusion What is the most important.
The event is done through the service of video conference zoom, so you will need a computer or tablet and an internet connection. To make everything closer, we would like to see each other's faces, so it would be advisable to have a webcam.

How are we going to do it?
To register you must fill out a form which you will find at the bottom of this page. In it, we will ask you that apart from provide your data, selections in which of the 4 challenges Would you like to work (gender violence, environment, the elderly or childhood)
During the event there will be moments in which all the participants are together and others in which you will work in teams for each of the challenges, always accompanied by a facilitator who will guide you throughout the innovation process.
And then…?
If you feel comfortable and willing, the process can continue working as a team to deepen the ideas that come out and for example participate in the internal category of the VI Edition of the Red Cross Humanitarian Technology Awards
We will also inform you of the results of the process and it is more than likely that there will be ideas that will become in lines of work of the foundation for the future
