What is an ideathon?
A open and participatory online event where volunteers and Red Cross workers throughout Spain collaborate to give answer to challenges and needs identified in the work of the Red Cross with the groups more vulnerable of our society. This process is carried out following innovative methodologies and focusing on the application of the technology for the resolution of these challenges.
When will it be done?
This year we will have 2 calls for applications:
Tuesday, June 22nd from 10:00 to 12:00 and Wednesday, June 23rd from 17:00 to 19:00.

What can I contribute?
We are confident that a lot. And by supporting each other and working as a team, much more.
Where did the idea come from?
Exactly one year ago we held the first Ideathon, Given the context, it was very focused on needs identified during the worst of the pandemic. If you'd like more information about last year, click here. here
This year we believe we must look to the future and work on four key challenges identified for the Red Cross. These challenges are:
- Gender violence: How can we use ICTs to reach out to victims of gender violence who are girls, adolescents, and young people?
- Environment: How can ICTs help us anticipate the risk that many families face of experiencing energy poverty?
- Older People: How can we, from a community perspective, identify situations of unwanted loneliness in older people with the help of ICTs?
- Childhood: How can technology help us raise and care for children aged 0 to 12 in a community?
What do I need to participate?
If you are a Red Cross volunteer or employee and you like technology, we want to hear from you. desire and enthusiasm which is the most important thing.
The event is done through the service of videoconference Zoom will be used, so you'll need a computer or tablet and an internet connection. To make things feel more personal, we'd like to see each other's faces, so a webcam would be advisable.

How are we going to do it?
To register you must fill out a form which you will find at the end of this page. In it, we will ask you to, in addition to provide your details, selections in Which of the 4 challenges Would you like to work on (gender violence, the environment, the elderly, or childhood)?
During the event there will be times when all participants are together and other times when you will work in teams on each of the challenges, always accompanied by a facilitator who will guide you throughout the innovation process.
And then…?
If you feel comfortable and willing, the process can continue working as a team. to delve deeper into the ideas that emerge and for example, participate in the internal category of the 6th Edition Red Cross Humanitarian Technology Awards
We will also keep you informed of the results of the process, and it is very likely that some ideas will become in lines of work from the foundation for the future

First ideathon: Tuesday, June 22nd, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Second ideathon: Wednesday, June 23rd, from 5 to 7 pm
